EMILY MATHIEU
STAFF REPORTER

Speed may have been the cause of a horrific crash in Scarborough this morning. The car involved in the crash was traveling near the intersection of Morningside Ave. and Sheppard Ave. area when the driver lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle hit a light pole, causing the car to flip over and burst into flames, trapping the occupants, shortly before 4 a.m.

When firefighters arrived at the scene the car was engulfed in flames.

Members of Toronto’s Traffic Services and police are still investigating the cause of the accident, but believe excessive speed may have played a part in the crash.

The ages and sexes of the two victims are unknown at this time.

CAR HITS POLE IN SCARBOROUGH
By BRIAN GRAY, TORONTO SUN

TWO MEN are dead after their car slammed into a light pole and erupted in flames in Scarborough early yesterday, Toronto Police say. The car collided with a concrete light standard, rolled onto its left side and burst into flames, police said. The light pole then collapsed on top of the vehicle, trapping the men, both 25, inside.

Police said their car was moving at high speeds north on Morningside Ave. at Morningview Tr., just south of Old Finch Ave., around 3:40 a.m.

The driver lost control, went over the east-side curb, skidded sideways and collided with the concrete light standard.

Morningside Ave. curves to the left at the site of the crash. A sheared-off light standard and its charred stump were the only remnants of the collision left at the scene by midday yesterday.

No names have been released while Toronto Police traffic services investigators identify the bodies and notify the next of kin.

hobbies.

On my train ride to work this morning, I sat next to a woman who was crocheting a scarf. Watching her work got me thinking...I know how to crochet...a bit. Shoot...why not crochet a scarf for myself? If it turns out nicely, maybe i'll get my friend's mom to show me how to crochet a hat; maybe even some gloves to match. So on my way home tonight, I popped into Wal Mart (a store that is ironically being discussed on CNN as I type...there's supposedly a debate about it's 'greatness' as THE American retailer). Picked up some wool in a color that I must admit I'm quite pelased with (it's a blend of turquoises and greens and blues). And home I went to begin my 'project'.

The update...

20 minutes after starting..I've completed 1 and a half rows. Let's hope that this gets finished before December!

brand new.

Today I...
. started my new job
. realized how boring training is
. shopped with money I have yet to make
. experienced the 'joys' of the early morning commute
. attended a screening of the pilot - 'da Kink in my Hair'
(**props to Trey Anthony, Ngozi Paul, Sheryl Lee Ralph and Vision TV**)
. witnessed a white dude sit himself down between two well dressed upper class white women, proceed to carry on an argument with himself about whether he 'should do it', continued to pull out a baggie of weed and commenced rolling a joint which he went on to light and comfortably sit back, cross his legs and continue to smoke. Let me point out that this was during rush hour at Union Station. The women on either side of him were so shook, they looks of horror on their faces was priceless!
. arrived home to meet a free tee & cd from Giant Step...yeahhhh!!

.pissed.

I just spent a good chunk of time typing up a post about looking forward to my first day of work, looking forward to working downtown, the pros and cons of working downtown, sleeping through the OH NO concert, the fact that ODB dropped dead and my shopping problem.

Guess what...

Blogger fucked up and that lovely post is lost.
I'm not in the mood to retype so that little synopsis up top will have to suffice.

I'm going shopping and this one better post...peace.

.iam.addicted

Words cannot explain how much I needed that week off. It was grrreat. I did not think about work or any other stressors once. Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Antigua, Barbados, St. Lucia. Friends, family, sun, sea and sand (and liquor of course). What more could I ask for?

I found proof that I am an internet junkie. During one of the few downtimes onboard the ship...I found myself drawn to the internet cafe. And....YUP....sucker that I am, I paid the required amount to satisfy the temptation to check my email. Yes, .iam.addicted.

I was not ready for my return to reality. This week at work has been hectic. Packing up my stuff, training someone knew, getting all kinds of last minute shit thrown at me by my boss....I can't wait for next Monday. Actually, I can't wait for Friday when I'll walk out of that office for the last time. I feel sorry for my replacement because there's a lot of stuff that's getting left undone AND my boss seems to think it only take 3 hours to train someone on the day to day running of the office. LoL. To be a fly on the wall of that office next week.....
